Jo-anne (Jo) joined and then led the WWF’s Sustainable Seafood Program over the period May 2012 to August 2020. In this role, Jo worked with WWF partners (brands, retailers, producers) and led a team responsible for assessing seafood supply chains, identification of improvements strategies, and the development and facilitation of pathways to responsible sourcing and sustainable seafood production practices.

Jo also led the fisheries legislative and policy engagement work in Australia for WWF. In this role Jo was an invited and active participant in the numerous national and commonwealth fisheries reform processes including being a member of the advisory committee for the Commonwealth Harvest Strategy Review, Bycatch Policy Review and is a Custodian Group member of the Fisheries Common Language Group, FRDC’s leadership group, amongst others.

Prior to WWF, Jo worked within the Government fisheries regulatory sector for 11 years where lead divisional teams responsible for industry management and development prior to becoming a principal CEO advisor; and as a consultant for 6 years, advising a range of sectors in fisheries and environmental management issues. Jo has extensive experience in fisheries and aquaculture management and is a strong advocate of achieving outcomes through collaboration and cross sector mechanisms.
